前回は、the がつく国名や地理的名称についてまとめました。
通常、固有名詞は無冠詞ですが、the をともなう固有名詞もあります。今回は、固有名詞がつく、大学・美術館・時代・書物などを紹介します。
大学
大学（ Keio University, Harvard University ）は、基本的に無冠詞ですが、the University of ～ の形をとるものには、the がつきます。
the University of Oxford 他
名称に地名が入っている大学は、「the University of 地名」を正式名称としていることが多いです。
「その地域の代表的な大学」という意味で、「the University of 地名」となります。
美術館・博物館
美術館・博物館には the がつきます。
the Metropolitan Museum 他
政府機関
政府機関には the がつきます。
the FBI
the Ministry of Finance
the Australian Embassy 他
路線・列車
路線・列車には the がつきます。
the Trans-Siberian Railroad 他

地位・肩書
個人名を含む肩書（Queen Elizabeth, President Kennedy）は無冠詞ですが、個人名が含まれない場合には the がつきます。
the King of Thailand 他
書物
新聞・経典などの書物には、the がつきます。雑誌は、基本的に無冠詞です。
